Behringer Bass V-AMP Pro

Amp Model Demos

This is a companion web page to my thread on TalkBass.com

Details

The raw DI signal from the bass was recorded using my stock 2009 Fender American Standard Jazz bass using both pickups, all pots wide open, into a small mixer, and then into a computer. The bass was strung with Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinky nickel round-wounds (.045-.105) broken-in for roughly two weeks. I apologize in advance for the riffs I recorded for use here, but please know in advance that I am a pick-gripping Rock player who does not slap, tap nor pluck.

The recorded bass signal was then sent into the preamp, with a flat EQ on the amp models, and with absolutely no compression or effects added. The preamp was connected directly to the recording computer using 1/4" outs.

In order to accommodate the direct connection, the Bass V-AMP Pro was set to Operating Mode, "Studio 1"

Under "Studio 1" mode, all of the amp models will feature mic'd speaker cabinet simulation, perfect for direct recording or monitoring through a full range system, but NOT through an actual bass speaker/cabinet. When outputting to an actual bass speaker/cabinet, you would want to use one of the other operating modes that eliminates the mic'd speaker cabinet simulation from the signal. (e.g. "Live 3")

Assessment

Although all audio samples below were recorded with amp models having a flat EQ, the use of simple EQ on each would dramatically improve the resulting tones. Additionally, judicious use of compression and other effects offered by the Bass V-AMP Pro could further enhance the results achieved with each amp model.

Do not underestimate this preamp! It is more than serviceable when configured correctly and pushed accordingly.
